Apple Introducing 64-bit Final Cut Pro

  1. Apple recently demoed its upcoming version of popular video software Final Cut Pro at the National Associations of Broadcasters trade show. With this imminent release, which Apple is calling Final Cut Pro X, the software will be getting a Cocoa-based, 64-bit version. The UI will be redesigned and support for background rendering is slated to be added as well.

  2. Apple plans for Final Cut Pro X to take advantage of Snow Leopard-specific technologies, such as OpenCL, GCD, Quicktime X and Core Animation, to allow for full background, real-time rendering, a major workflow improvement.

  3. In addition, Final Cut Pro X will be able to automatically scale CPU-heavy tasks to leverage multicore processors, allowing for vastly improved performance.
